Not even six months after we opened our doors on Jl. Labuansait, CAVO Bar & Bistro has been named among the best new openings in Bali by three of the island’s most-read food and travel guides: Baligasm, Honeycombers Bali and Concrete Playground. We are proud, a little emotional, and very grateful to everyone who has walked through the arch so far.

Baligasm: The Best New Places in Bali, 2026

Baligasm was one of the first to spot us. In its Best New Places in Bali: Cafes, Bars & Dining guide, published in August, they called CAVO “a new Italian sanctuary in Uluwatu”, inspired by generations of family recipes and made for unhurried dining.

They recommended starting with burrata and cherry tomatoes and a porchetta focaccia, then moving on to fresh seafood and our signature Crudo e Burrata Roman-style pizza. They also captured the feel of a night at CAVO: a late-afternoon aperitivo that turns into a long dinner as the music and the room build.

Honeycombers: Hot New Tables, October 2026

In its Best new restaurants in Bali: Hot New Tables round-up, Honeycombers Bali included CAVO among the new Uluwatu openings, describing a Roman-inspired wine bar and bistro with “a casual yet refined atmosphere”. They loved that it works for an easy weeknight dinner just as well as a dressed-up night out with friends and a bottle of wine.

On the food, they highlighted generous portions and honest, uncomplicated recipes: the kind of Italian food you want to eat any day of the week. Their picks included the burrata, our stuffed olives and truffle arancini to start, with the pizza singled out as the standout, followed by our spicy vodka pasta, grilled prawns and the eggplant parmigiana. Their local tip? Grab a seat at the wine-barrel high tables with a Negroni or a dirty martini.

Concrete Playground: The Best New Venues in Uluwatu

In mid-October, Concrete Playground featured CAVO in The Best New Venues in Uluwatu in 2026, alongside some of the most exciting new names on the Bukit. They described the flower-covered white archway at the entrance, the intimate room, and candlelit tables for two that make it a natural choice for date night or a proper catch-up.

They also mentioned our share-style menu of pizzas, pastas, salads, antipasti and signatures, built on old family recipes. The Olive Ascolane (fried green olives stuffed with beef and parmigiano) got a special mention, along with Nonna’s tiramisu, and our live acoustic Thursdays and vinyl Fridays, both from 7:30 PM.

Try what the critics loved

If you are coming in because of the reviews, here is where to start:

  • Olive Ascolane: fried green olives stuffed with beef and parmigiano, with classic aioli and lemon.
  • Arancini al Tartufo: parmesan and mushroom risotto balls with truffle mayo.
  • Burrata e Pomodorini: a whole fresh burrata with marinated cherry tomatoes and basil oil.
  • Spicy Paccheri alla Vodka: our most-loved pasta, with stracciatella, fried basil and roasted red peppers.
  • Gamberi alla Griglia: oven-roasted king prawns with garlic-chilli butter.
  • Melanzane alla Parmigiana: layered eggplant, tomato and mozzarella, baked in a skillet.
  • Crudo e Burrata pizza: our signature oval Roman-style pizza with fresh burrata, prosciutto crudo and wild rucola, on slow-fermented dough.
  • La Porchetta focaccia: slow-roasted porchetta, pickled cucumber and salsa verde on house-baked focaccia.
  • Nonna’s tiramisu: what makes it so special is our little kept secret. Read the story of tiramisu.

Pair it all with an Italian wine, a spritz or a Negroni from the bar. See the full food menu, or check what’s on this week.

Thank you

None of this happens without our team, who have been with us since day one, and without our guests: the locals who have made CAVO their neighbourhood bar, and the travellers who found us on their first night in Uluwatu. Thank you for every booking, every review and every recommendation to a friend.
